i-pad & Early Childhood Skills
Early childhood is the ideal age to learn skills. The three reasons for this are:
- Repetition: Young children enjoy repetition. They are willing to repeat until they have acquired the ability to do it well.
3.Pliable Bodies: Young children learn easily and quickly because their bodies are pliable and because they have until this time acquired so few skills that it does not interfere with acquiring the new ones.
Early childhood skills are:
1.Social and Emotional: e.g. Caring and Sharing, Respect etc.
3. Listening Skills: e.g. Recognize alphabet sound, listen to songs/rhymes, imitate everyday sounds ( Rippling Rhymes)
4.Visual: e.g. Match Objects, Find Objects in a picture.
6.Numeracy: e.g. Number Recognition 1-10, Counting, Sorting objects.(Swim with Numbers)
7.Understanding Color: Recognize primary and secondary colors.(Color Carnival)
8.Understanding Position & Direction: e.g. Up and Down, On and Under.(Coming soon)
9.Understanding Time: e.g. Clock and telling time, day and night.(Coming soon)
The skills that young children learn, largely depends upon the opportunities they get and the guidance they receive in mastering these skills quickly and efficiently. In this day and age the
“i-pad” is one of the best tools a parent can provide his young one for mastering various skills.
