It is generally accepted that Learning occurs in response to a sensory stimuli – seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting and smelling.

The stimulation of one or more of five sense organs is the first step in the learning process. Instructors must provide the sensory stimulus necessary for learners to receive new information.

The second step in the learning process is the learner’s response to the sensory stimulus from the instructor.

The change that takes place in the learner as a result of the sensory stimulus represents the “acquisition of knowledge or skill” or “learning”.

The stimulation of two senses – sight and sound makes a far more vivid impression upon the students than the stimulation that only one sense could make.

Experiments have shown that about 75% of learning is acquired through sight and only 13% through hearing. The phrase, “a picture is worth ten thousand words”, does contain an element of truth.

Audio Visual devices appeal to the eyes and ears of the learners. Audio Visual education has developed rapidly since the 1920’s by drawing on new technologies of communication, most recently the I-pad/ Tablet. John Amos Comenius (1592-1670), a Bohemian educator was among the first ones to propose a systematic method of audio visual education. Comenius was followed by other great educators, including Jean-Jacques, Rousseau, John Locke and J.H. Pestalozzi who advocated the use of sensory materials to supplement teaching.

ipads are the latest audio visual device that supplements teaching. It guides its audience through the material and highlights significant points. It successfully communicates the idea/information and also elicits a desired response. It makes learning more interesting and helps in reinforcement as well. It is designed to clarify and speed up instruction.

The Tinytapps preschool apps designed and developed by Redbytes Software has content that is rich in learning and reinforcement, the audio and visuals are appealing and can be used both at home and in schools.

Kindergarten Teacher

The Millennium School

Dubai, U.A.E.

Your team has really put in a lot of efforts & I really appreciate that .

Fun With ABC( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/funwithabc/id452565682?mt=8)is simply amazing as it covers all aspects of the letters of the English alphabet except for Phonic Sounds and which I suggest you should include it in your update.

It develops self learning as the child explores & learns independently and is also corrected & guided wherever required. To add to its perfection the child is encouraged & motivated throughout.

ABC Game is the best way of reinforcement and evaluation where we can easily assess the child in a play-way method. ABC Song enhances enjoyment & develops social skill through music. The app also sharpens observation skill & develops visual spatial skills.

Have you ever stopped to think about families with autistic kids. It is very difficult for parents to handle these kids and even more difficult to educate them. In such cases an iPad can be a well-liked gadget to educate them as well as to reduce the number of violent meltdowns their children experience each day. According to experts, the iPad actually can reduce the symptoms of the disorder by helping kids deal with life’s sensory overload.

According to an autism expert “kids have no control over the pace of information coming at them, with the iPad, the child has more control.”

A mother of a 3year old kid diagnosed with autism a year ago says, “Before the iPad, he had several violent meltdowns a day. Now, after using the iPad, he has fewer violent meltdowns. She continues, “The iPad has given us our family back, it’s unlocked a new part of our son that we hadn’t seen before, and given us insight into the way he connects with his world.” She concludes, “We found it to be a miracle device, our son now uses the iPad daily as a way to play games, communicate about ideas and even make puzzles”.

The iPad has been gaining recognition for helping autistic children since it first came out in 2010.

Certainly part of the attraction is the number of child-friendly educational apps available.

Another key reason why the iPad works so well for autistic children: it lacks a keyboard and mouse. Without these peripherals, there is less distraction for the children.

There are at least three dozen apps designed for autistic kids including ones for music and reading.

And the device itself supports spoken text and other aids for those with special needs.

“The iPad wasn’t designed with autistic children in mind, but, anecdotally, the results are seemingly miraculous,” say’s well known technology blogger John Gruber.

Ashley Harrell of SF Weekly, reports, there are other computers designed for children with autism, but a growing number of experts say that the iPad is better. It’s cheaper, faster, more versatile, more user-friendly, more portable, more engaging, and infinitely cooler for young people.

TinyTapps develops child friendly, interesting and fun educational apps for preschoolers and toddlers. Some of our apps in the appstore are Fun With ABC, Swim With Numbers, Colour Carnival and my recent favourite My Talking Album. Try them and do send your review and suggestions, if any.

From the moment of conception, the neurons (nerve cells) of the brain multiply faster than any other cells in a baby’s body.

The rapid pace of a baby’s brain development continues into early childhood: at birth, the brain weighs 25 percent of its adult weight; by age one, 50 percent; by age two, 75 percent; and by age three, 90 percent.

The brain of an adult has over 100 billion neurons, the majority of which were formed during the first five months in the womb! Recent research suggests that new neurons can be created throughout life – but probably only in sufficient numbers just to replace those that have died.

Each of the brain’s neurons is connected to roughly 5,000 others. In general, the more branches the brain has, the greater it’s processing power. More pathways mean information can travel in a number of ways, opening the door to faster and more complex thinking.

This is true in an adult, but not in an infant. Baby’s brain actually has more synapses than yours – but only because it hasn’t passed an important developmental stage, known as pruning, in which the brain deletes unneeded neural connections. So it’s like if you will not use it, you will directly lose it.

In one study, rat pups were placed in two environments – One was in an “enriched” one filled with toys and obstacles, and other was in an “impoverished,” empty one. After 80 days, the rats that had been in an enriched environment were found to have brains with a heavier cerebral cortex (the part of the brain that controls memory and perception), larger neurons, and more intricate dendrite networks.

The same principle applies to a baby’s brain development. Scientists have discovered, for instance, that certain areas of the brain are larger and more developed in children who play musical instruments than in those who do not. These include the cerebellum, which processes rhythm and timing, and the corpus callosum, which acts as the conduit for communication between the brain’s left and right hemispheres – vital for musicians coordinating their right and left hands.

Keeping these facts in mind, it is best to start teaching your baby early. Technology is a good option. Electronic devices like iPad and iPhone kids are contributing immensely to early child development.

TinyTapps sincerely aims to develop innovative educational iPad applications that are just perfect for this age facilitating early learning with lots of fun.
